Demonstration of technical and visual skills: Materials, techniques, observational skills, visual awareness, design and composition skills.
In part three I have experimented with different techniques and materials like: weaving with head phones, crochet with metal wire and I have learnt some new fabric manipulation techniques. I have observed the work of other artist and have applied my findings to my work, example: I have learnt how Polly Binn records and translates her everyday walks in her textiles and in doing so I have adopted some of her techniques.
Quality of outcome: Content, application of knowledge, presentation of work in a coherent manner, discernment, conceptualisation of thoughts and communication of ideas.
I comunícate my ideas and my concepts well. At times I feel myself drifting into so many different ideas that I have to rein myself back on track. I think part three has helped me come to some conclusions and I found direction within my personal experience Theme. It has definitely been a journey of self discovery in a personal and creative level.
Demonstration of creativity: Imagination, experimentation, invention, development of a personal voice.
I continue to express my imagination and invention well, I think this is one of my strong points. I have wondered about my personal voice? At times when researching other artist I was worried that I was loosing my personal voice and morphing into the artist I was researching, but I have come to the conclusion that I start adopting other artist methods and then I turn them into my style, my voice. In conclusion I think that my voice is getting stronger. Still a way to go! As I continue to find my confidence in my work.
Context: Reflection, research and critical thinking.
I am getting into the habit of reflecting and I am addicted to researching. Sometimes I wonder if I need to put more on paper. A lot of my research is recorded on my iPad. Screen printing art that I find inspiring, copying articles on the web, learning and absorbing. My printer broke so some of this research hasn’t made it to my sketchbook. But I am constantly researching and learning. My Critical thinking has improved as I have gotten more confident, I still think it is an area that I need to continue to work harder specially when talking about my work.
